Mechanics, it is postulated that Adam was corrupted genetically by

partaking in the “forbidden fruit” (as evidenced by the covering of the

body with fig leaves to cover newly-developed genitalia, etc.), and

that this corruption caused the loss of the postulated Twelve

Glorified Endowments (of which a greatly developed five senses

were a part). 

Reduced thusly, Adam and Eve went out into the world blind and deaf
