"IN THE BEGINNING...:
_____________________________________________________________________
"Once upon a time, billions of years ago, in the far northern reaches of the universe, God sat brooding over the events directly preceding this time. He surveyed the terran plain, representative of His essence--cosmic energy--according to His own constants. He looked down at primordial matter, created by His handiwork; His own cosmic energy equalled mass times the speed of light squared--the creation of the primordial matter caused by dividing a portion of His cosmic energy by the speed of light squared. <E = mc2, where, according to Einstein, Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared; therefore, by transposition, M = E/c2--thus was matter created.> [It is the postulation of the Evidentiary Science Ministry Of PARRC Research that the original equation was P = mL2]
The terran plain, or primordial matter, was rived of any semblance of the original body of matter He had created. Electrons still danced, and lightnings flashed from the battle which had so recently ensued.
A large chunk of the terran plain had been ripped loose—rendered without form and void--and His most beautiful creation was now banished upon it.
The curve of the universe was forming in front of His majestic eyes.
The sparks from the original explosion, which flung Lucifer down to Terra, burned hot, becoming the very stars of heaven themselves, hurtling out at hundreds of thousands of kilometers per second.
The angels sat and watched in astonishment, their song of praise never missing a beat. Directed toward God, it reached His ears, and pleased Him, even in the face of such carnage. Michael and Gabriel stood nearby, faces reflecting the glory of God, watching their Lord. His eyes moved back and forth over Terra, scanning its rocky crags and dark valleys. There was no life on its surface; however, in the still-heated interior, rustlings and cacklings could be heard by His divine ears.....
He knew the design of life, and the plan for the universe. He knew from everlasting the movements of each molecule in space. He knew that this "Big Bang" would result in the re-formation of the spaces
and the plain. He knew it--and He allowed circumstances to go forth unimpeded by Divine intervention.
He also knew what was coming next.
He had created Lucifer, first, with an independent will. In the process of creation, He decided that a creature, reflecting back His glory to Him by choice, rather than role, was desirous. He also knew that where choice entered in, positives and negatives were created.
It was worth it all, according to His master plan. In fact, it was integral to His final designs. As He suspected, through the years, Lucifer began feeling his own power, and seeing his own glory; vanity
superseded worship, and his demise began.
Now, that demise was complete. He had dared to ascend to the Throne of God in his demented vanity. He had allowed his will to run rampantly away from the All-Father, and such was his undoing. Now as
the Great and Powerful El-Shaddai sat, He heard the early reverberations of Lucifer's voice, calling. The once-beautiful music now fell in discordant waves, ne'er reminiscent of the creature who
once was. The colors, once coruscant and beautiful, now were indescribable in their ugliness, and dripped in foul rivers from the new creature. He called his hideous song, and it reached God's
ears.....
As he called, God turned His eyes downward to the prison that Terra had become, down into the pit where he and the angels who followed him now found their abode. Looking downward through the brimstone, down to where Lucifer reclined on his throne of lava rock, light burst forth in accompaniment of God's glance. His lighteyes shone downward, casting shadows and unveiling hideous atrocities which had once been the glorious angels of heaven. They recoiled in fear, pain, and
hatred, scuttling into the shadows, seeking the repose of darkness.
Only Lucifer remained, nearly blinded by the same light that he himself once reflected.
"I see thou still answerest my call, All-Father." God answered in His voice-without-words, seething with power and glory. Deep inside the decayed mind of Lucifer, God's answer formed. "I hear, Lucifer."
"Call me by my new name, Enemy; the one which befits the enemy of all he surveys. Call me Enemy."
God, ever-majestic and righteous, answered, "I follow the counsel of My own will, Lucifer; I call thee what thou wert--thou mayest may call thyself what thou hast become."
"Ever seeking the best, Father Of Lights? I need not thy pity or fond memories; I have called thee forth to issue a challenge."
God's sonorous voice echoed throughout the dank passageways of Lucifer's mind. "I AM THAT I AM." Thunderings accompanied the revelation of truth, and the weak foundations of Terra shuddered.
"I cannot be challenged, as thou well knowest, Lucifer." Michael spoke:
"Perhaps he seeks a more even test, My Lord; send me." His face like nuclear fire, Michael stood poised to once again enjoin Lucifer in battle. God, ever-knowing and understanding, soothingly said to his
archangel, "Peace, Michael; there will be no more violence not according to his designs."
"I seek not the challenge of violence, My Lord," Lucifer enjoined. "I am no fool; I am also not afraid of thy supplicant, Michael. My challenge is a cerebral one--and one which thou canst not turn down."
Jehovah listened, knowing what was coming next.
Lucifer said, "Thy beautiful angels watch, seeing how thou hast treated us, Lord. They see the ruthless way in which thou hast treated thy former supplicants. The angels which art now mine sit in
the shadows, preferring the dark to the light of supplication. They have been abandoned; cast out. The example thou hast shown to all thine angels is not a good one, and stirs fear and doubt in their
hearts. What sayest thou, Lord? What wilt thou do about it? How canst thou still their fears?"
God answered, "Behold, thine art true to thy new visage—the consummate liar which thou art. In the lies which thou hast woven, thou seekest to create--but such is not thy power. I do, however, see
the seed of truth which thou dost do not. My angels have seen my ruthlessness, for righteousness sake; thou hast made it necessary. I will now show them my mercy."
Lucifer leaned forward on the rock, eyes narrowed into slits. "What wilt thou do, My Lord? How wilt thou grant succor to thy supplicants, and their fears?"
He answered, "I will again create: an entity which is reflective of myself, in its three components.
Something lower than the angels, yet higher than all other forms of corporeal life. I will grant them
life, and the realities of worship and communion with Me."
"Thou seekest to show your mercy to your supplicants through showing mercy to another race? It makes no sense," Lucifer answered. "My ways art not your ways, Lucifer; my thoughts art not privy to thee," God answered, looking down upon His creation.
"Thou seekest seek to create a race of beings which givest thee the same praise, as inherent to their natures, as thine other supplicants. This proves nothing. I can givest thou the opportunity to show in
stark relief thy mercy," Lucifer chided.
"Thou needest need not tell me what I already know, Lucifer," God replied. "Thou art indeed central to this theme; without thee, it would not be possible."
"Thou readest my thoughts, Lord; is this not unfair? Art thou creating the future now, or art thou allowing the course of events to travel unimpeded?"
"The future goes as I will it, Lucifer," God said. "But, within the province of my good and perfect will lie freedoms which comprise the foundations which make possible this challenge."
Curiosity piqued, Lucifer rose from the stone, hooves grating on the rough surface. Looking up into the brilliance, he said "What dost thou meanest? How can this be?" "Think, Lucifer, think; the answer
is already in thee," God replied.
Looking deeper into himself, Lucifer found the core of knowledge God alluded to. "Thou wilt give me the chance to provide an opposite to Thyself? Thou wilt give them FREE WILL to choose?" "As I did with
the angels that followed thee, and with thine own self, I will," God replied.
Lucifer spun around and around with glee. "Thou canst not seriously believe that thou canst win? Thou knowest the depths that I can plumb; Thou knowest full well the depravities, the imaginings, the
strongholds which I may set up. Thou knowest the evil that a free mind is capable of. THOU MUST KNOW THAT I WILL BE TRIUMPHANT!"
God spoke: "I can only show mercy, Lucifer, where there is cause Thou, Lucifer, art that vehicle. Thou wilt provide the contrast which will make my new people a great new nation--for in resisting thee, and in voluntarily giving their wills to Me, they will be perfected."
"I will see to it, Lord, that Thou hast no new nation!" he screamed.
"There will be, Lucifer--in spite of thine efforts to the contrary," God said.
"Then since Thou art Supreme, Lord, and I am doomed to failure, Thou art free to be magnanimous with the rules," Lucifer ployed. "Givest them to me, on Terra; give me maximum access to them; let me in on thy strategies, thy chronologies, thy prophecies. Givest me these things, since thy mercy descends to even my deposed station!"
God listened, seeing the plan reach completion. "Thou hast asked, Lucifer; so it shall be given to thee. But beware: Thou hast only a little season in which to do thy worst. After that season, the home of thine current occupation will seem like the heaven thou hast only so recently departed."
Flying into an unholy rage, Lucifer countered, "I will fill the bowels of Terra to bursting with thy 'people!' I will cause every debauchery, every degredation, every imaginable perversion, and debase thy 'people' beyond even thy reach, or care! I will cause them to fall--to prey upon each other--hate each other, for reasons of my own choosing--to so misportray that which Thou seekest that Thou wilt willingly GIVE them to me!"
"I will kill them--cause them to kill each other! I will fill their physicalities with lust, and avarice, and warmongering! I will find my greatest power, and triumph, in their demise! This I so swear to Thee, Lord--there will be no reason to exterminate me--Thou wilt look to me to take responsibility for the refuse of Thy 'people!'"
"I will cause Thine own former angels--mine own demons--to prey upon them--live inside them--causing them to give themselves to me, and MY will--not Thine! I will cause them to take every word Thou givest them, and misinterpret and mongrelize it! I will cause Thee to fall from their minds--in time, Thou wilt not even seem to exist! Only I will seem real! I will raise up my own people, superior to Thine own,
and cause destruction and hatred unheralded in the annals of time!"
"AND ONE MORE THING: THOU MAYEST LEAD THEM AS YE WISH; BUT SWEAR THAT DURING THE YEARS TOWARD THE FULNESS OF TIMES OF THIS CHALLENGE THOU WILLEST NOT PERSONALLY INTERFERE!"
God spoke: "I need not swear, Lucifer; even thou knowest that my every word is truth. Thou mayest have thy conditions."
Lucifer fell silent. Could this be? His sinister heart leapt in his goat-like chest. Grinning a demonic smile, bowing from the waist in mock supplication, he said, "I Thank Thee, Lord."
Beginning the cackle of a laugh, Lucifer looked up; the cackle became a full-fledged laugh as he sought to taunt God. "Thou must be slipping," he grated. "Thou must know within the bounds of Thine
Omniscience that this is a doomed proposition. However, I accept. It is this that I seem to have been created for."
"There is more truth in thy statement than thou realizeth, Lucifer," God said. Lucifer stopped laughing. "Indeed," God spoke, "Thou wilt serve to create a formidable opposition; however, my people will
survive thy greatest threats, and My mercy and Presence will always be with them."
"Thou hast said Thou woudst not visit them personally!" He responded.
God said, "I AM TRINITY: three-in-one. At no time during this era will I come to them in Trinity. I will go in my Body, I will go In My Mind, and I will go in My Spirit. They will have Me, as they havest Thee--and I will triumph. Thou must know this Lucifer, even in thy demented state."
Lucifer screamed. "Just leave them to me! Let them decide their path, with my instruction! Let me have them!"
God spoke: "Thou mayest have AT them, Lucifer; do thine own worst--and through thine actions of hatred, Mine actions of love will prevail, thereby proving to the minions of heaven that God, indeed, is
The Great And Only God."
Whirling around, he sat down on the rocky throne. "Indeed," Lucifer laughed. "Indeed."
God spoke one last time: "Thou were my greatest creation. Thou art now my greatest adversary. But God is God. His Will is Supreme," He spoke, in second person. "Do thy worst, and look thou ever forward to the day of reckoning." Thunder crashed, accompanying His voice.
Lucifer crouched, glancing upward in hatred. "Look thou ever forward, adversary of man and God, and remember; the day is coming when thine chains having been forged complete, and the name 'defeat' written upon them, will bindest thou forever in the living evil thou representest. Until then, Satan."
The light withdrew. The thunder stopped. The demons returned to their master, eyes red in the dark night. He still looked upward, mind already planning unspeakeable evil, and mused upon God's last
word: "Satan."
Yes--he felt it was a fitting name for him--for his new activities.
He would keep it.
Suddenly, looking around, the surface of Terra began to transform, shifting, geometries rebalancing. Soon light began to break forth, and the darkness began to shrink, driving Satan and his minions deep
underground, where the light would not burn them. God was beginning to reform the new 'Earth.'
Deeper and deeper, into the bowels of the earth he retreated, finding his new home.....
